Been going here for my chicken needs since covid. Didn’t have time to make the trip today so just grabbed some store chicken. After frying and eating, I was retracing my steps in my mind trying to figure out if I messed the recipe up bc it didn’t taste as good as normal (it was fried chicken, so it was still good, just not *as* good), then realized the only difference was the chicken/source. So, what I’m saying is that the meat at LP actually is noticeably better.

Took the charcuterie class and loved it. Two hours, you learn to make sausage, rubbed bacons, and brined ham. Went home with a huge sausage to smoke, a nice chunk of brined ham, and a couple packages of bacon. Very interesting to learn the process – Jordan the head butcher is a great teacher. You know the old line about where the sausage is made – well here you get to both see and do it. I’ve been buying meat here for years and the people are always great. By the way, the brined pork chops are the best on earth.

Local Pig is awesome. Big selection of locally sourced meats and a ton of other foods (and even drinks) that represent Kansas City very well. Would highly recommend taking one of their classes. I was able to take the sausage making class with Jordan and had an awesome experience. Informative, hands on and took away a ton from the class, including a bundle of top tier sausage.

Good price and easy parking. We bought pork belly with skin on and it was SO fresh! They also have a great selection on types of meat that you can’t really find from regular grocery stores.
